„MädchenWelten“ (Girls‘ Worlds) is an arabic-german Foto-Biography-Project portraying girls and young women in Germany and Egypt. During several workshops in Berlin-Pankow and Sohag girls and young women wrote stories about their lives. In a professional fotoshooting their portraits were taken. To celebrate the International Day of the Girl in 2016 the exhibition was first opened in Berlin and Sohag and is shown in several locations since then. The portraits and stories of the project’s participants are also presented in a little bilingual booklet. Even though the every day lives of girls and women in Germany and Egypt are quite different, „MädchenWelten“ reveals not only differences but similarities and diversity among the participants.
The project was funded by Robert Bosch Foundation and Bezirksamt Pankow and supported by Goethe-Institute Kairo.
